Born in Venezuela, growing up in Kuwait, and then emigrating to Canada in 2013, Will Selviz is an Afro-Caribbean multidisciplinary designer, who specializes in immersive media technologies including 3D animation, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and 360 video.
Will's creative career began through drawing and painting, then he switched to photography over a decade ago. In 2016, he was accepted into OCAD University's Digital Futures program, where he was introduced to emerging, immersive technologies. It’s at OCAD where Will found his niche within design and decided to specialize in 3D animation, branding, and entrepreneurship.
After graduation, Will founded RENDRD Media, which set out to bring ideas, concepts, and storytelling to life through 3D animation. RENDRD Media's larger mission is to provide employment opportunities and educate BIPOC youth in creative industries where people of colour are still underrepresented. RENDRD Media’s clients include Nike, Revolt TV, Prada, Ciroc, Bell Media, and Universal Music.
Will's early career was heavily influenced by the electronic music scene, being one of the youngest concert photographers in Canada at 19. His success in pioneering such a unique brand of photography led him to shoot Coachella and EDC Vegas for the musical group, Autograf. His photos have been featured on several major digital and print publications including DJ Mag, Mixmag, and Billboard. His press photography work has been showcased on electronic billboards in New York City’s Times Square, Los Angeles, Shanghai, and Toronto’s Yonge-Dundas Square.
Will’s Afro-Caribbean roots are not only present in his work, but the reason he pays it forward today. He revisits his humble beginnings and older designs to remain innovative. Will looks to his past as inspiration for his art and his foundation, while lighting a path for his community to imagine the future with him.
